Burns are serious accidents and do not necessarily have to be caused by fire. Therefore, there are several types of burns and can vary depending on the causing agent, according to the classification below:
THERMAL – Caused by heat, hot liquids, heated objects and steam.
CHEMICAL – Caused by acids and bases.
ELECTRIC – when provoked by lightning and electric currents.
RADIATION – When caused by particles or waves.
Prostration caused by heat
Heat-induced prostration is a process caused by exposure to heat over several hours – excessive fluid loss caused by sweating causes fatigue, a drop in blood pressure, and sometimes collapse.
Being exposed to high temperatures can cause fluid loss through sweating, especially during physical activity or exercise. Along with fluids, salts (electrolytes) are lost, which alters circulation and brain function. As a result, prostration can occur.
