Previously, according to the Ordinance, the MTE issued CA for these IPEs as follows:
1) Safety Harness with Lanyard;
2) Fall Arrest with Safety Harness.
In case 1, the issued CA presented in the field “DESCRIPTION OF EQUIPMENT” the description of the Safety Harness and all lanyards that could be used with this Safety Harness.
In case 2, the issued CA presented the description of the Fall Arrest Device and all the Safety Harnesses that could be used with this Fall Arrest Device.
Currently, with the publication of SIT Ordinance No. 292, which changed item I (PPE for Protection against Falls with a Difference in Level) of Annex I (List of Personal Protective Equipment) of NR 6, it now considers as PPE the SAFETY HARNESS with a Fall Arrest device and the SAFETY HARNESS with Lanyard;
In addition, NR 35 (Work at height) defines in its glossary that the SAFETY HARNESS is a PPE and that the Lanyard and the FALL-ARREST are CONNECTING AND SAFETY DEVICES for protection against falls.
In summary, according to the new ruling CA will be issued for Safety Harnesses with Lanyard and Fall Arrests, in some cases for Safety Harnesses only with a Fall Arrest or Safety Harnesses only with a Lanyard.
